With the generous Rule #13, The Tara Rule, we had an extra day (Columbus Day) to get our rides in. As I had the day off I rode into Anchorage and met my wife (who did have to work) for a quick cup of coffee at Dark Horse Coffee. The temps were in the 40s, the roads were wet, but in spite of “numerous showers” in the forecast I stayed dry!
There aren’t a lot of options as far as the route into downtown Anchorage. So I found myself again on the Ship Creek trail. Those that completed the Big Wild Ride will remember this as the final run to the finish. The Ship Creek trail is a beautiful and little used trail that runs along, well, Ship Creek so that you hardly notice that it is really an industrial area. It has a nice flow, particularly in this direction that is slightly downhill. The sun had come out and even though most of leaves are now on the ground it was still beautiful.
Dark Horse Coffee was bustling with customers from the nearby offices. I snagged a table and waited for my wife to arrive, who graciously ordered and paid for our drinks. She got a dry cappuccino, whatever that is.
Dark Horse actually makes some of the best coffee around, in my opinion. And, they have bike parking!
I headed home on the Chester Creek trail, but ventured through Russian Jack Park to spice things up a bit. I arrived home just after noon, another fine coffeeneuring ride!
